ASTANA, Kazakhstan, June 12. Kazakhstan’s gross domestic product (GDP) expanded by 6% in the first five months of 2025 compared to the same period last year, according to preliminary data released by the Bureau of National Statistics, Trend reports.
The growth was supported by strong performance across multiple sectors. Industrial output rose by 6.4%, while the agriculture sector posted a 4.0% increase, up from 3.9% in January-April.
Construction remained one of the most dynamic sectors, recording a 15.4% growth in volume. Residential construction also continued its upward trend, with over 6 million square meters of housing commissioned between January and May - a 5.7% increase from the previous year.
Fixed capital investment grew by 18.2%, driven by spending on transport, industrial and social infrastructure, as well as machinery and new production facilities.
Trade turnover rose by 7.8%, up from 7.0% in the previous reporting period. The telecommunications sector expanded by 2.8%, largely due to a 13.9% increase in internet services.
Transport was the fastest-growing sector, with output rising by 23.1%, underscoring the country’s focus on strengthening connectivity and logistics infrastructure.
