Iran Customs Administration cooperates with universities for production of electronic tools and equipment including electronic and smart seals, the Head of Iran Customs Administration Mehdi Mirasharafi said, Trend reports citing the official website of the Customs Administration.
“Iran Customs does not pay for software import, and in the case of hardware, it uses the capabilities of domestic producers, especially regarding X-ray systems,” Mirasharafi stated at the conference held at the Innovation Center of Tehran University.
“The Ministry of Defense and Armed Forces provided three of the five trucks X-ray scanners ordered by the Customs and deployed them at the Customs offices,” he said.
Further, he mentioned that co-production of electronic seals (in collaboration with the University of Tehran), establishment of the World Customs Organization (WCO) regional training center (in Iran in cooperation with Shahid Beheshti University) and utilizing the experiences of scholars of Sharif University as the examples of collaborations between the Customs Administration and universities.
Mirsharafi went on to point to the small contribution of Iran in international trade.
“Reducing the number of laws and regulations and a number of business policy-making organizations are of the most effective solutions to increase Iran's share in international trade,” he added.
