BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, September 10. Consumer prices and tariffs in Kyrgyzstan grew by two percent from January through August 2024 compared to December 2023, Trend reports via the country's National Statistical Committee.
Prices for alcoholic beverages and tobacco products rose by 7.6 percent, non-food products by 2.8 percent, food products and non-alcoholic beverages decreased by 0.4 percent, while tariffs for services provided to the public rose by 4.4 percent.
From January through August this year, price and tariff increases were observed across all regions of Kyrgyzstan, except for the Jalal-Abad region, which saw a decrease of 0.2 percent.
The highest price increase of 2.8 percent was recorded in Bishkek and Issyk-Kul regions.
Meanwhile, this August, Kyrgyzstan saw a 0.3 percent decrease in consumer prices and tariffs compared to the previous month.
Prices for non-food products increased by 0.6 percent, alcoholic beverages and tobacco products by 0.4 percent, and service tariffs by 0.8 percent, while prices for food products and non-alcoholic beverages decreased by 1.2 percent.
All regions of the country had a decline in consumer prices and tariffs in August compared to the previous month, with the exception of the Batken, Jalal-Abad, and Osh regions, which saw increases of 0.9 percent, 0.2 percent, and 0.1 percent, respectively.
