TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, October 26. Uzbekistan will resume operations at the Shakhrisabz Airport starting January 1, 2024, Trend reports.

The news followed a working visit by Uzbekistan’s President Shavkat Mirziyoyev to the city of Karshi in the country’s Kashkadarya region to explore the socio-economic development of the region.

The local flights to Uzbekistan’s regions of Samarkand, Bukhara, Ferghana, and Khorezm will be operated on the ATR aircraft.

As a result, it is expected that the cost of air tickets will decrease by two times and the flow of foreign and domestic tourists will increase threefold.

Meanwhile, Uzbekistan Airways operated 3,077 flights only to domestic destinations in the first half of last year; more than 3,200 flights were operated over the same period in 2023, which clearly shows the development of domestic tourism in the country.
