TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, July 15. Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan jointly introduced a new navigation corridor, Trend reports.
According to Uzbekistan's Ministry of Transport, new sections of the T-916 zonal navigation route were officially announced and put into operation for aircraft flights.
The new route, shortened to 40 kilometers, will allow airlines to save from 30 to 50 tons of aviation fuel per year during daily flights. At the same time, it will reduce oxygen consumption by 50 to 70 tons and harmful carbon dioxide emissions by 220 to 250 tons per year.
In particular, the introduction of new sections of air routes began with mutual cooperation between specialists of the Uzaeronavigation State Unitary Enterprise and the Kazaeronavigatsia on the optimization of elements of the structures of neighboring air lines of territories, as well as reducing the load on air traffic controllers.
According to forecasts, more than 30 airlines per day plan to perform flights on the new optimized route.
Meanwhile, Uzbekistan’s trade turnover volume with Kazakhstan amounted to $1.5 billion from January through May 2024. This figure is 21 percent lower year-on-year ($1.9 billion in January–May 2023).
Kazakhstan was Uzbekistan's third-largest international trading partner. The country accounts for 5.9 percent of Uzbekistan's commercial turnover.
