BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 24. Anti-personnel mines most commonly have been found in Azerbaijan's liberated territories, Chairman of the country's National Agency for Mine Action (ANAMA) Vugar Suleymanov told Trend.
According to him, the number of discovered anti-personnel mines exceeds 33,000 units.
"More than 20,000 anti-tank mines have been found on Azerbaijan's liberated territories, along with unexploded ordnance," Suleymanov said.
To note, from 2020 to date, 379 people have fallen victim to mines in Eastern Zangezur and Karabakh, 70 of whom were killed and 309 injured. Meanwhile, 161,000 hectares have been cleared of mines in these regions, with 157,000 mines and unexploded ordnance neutralized.
