Iran's total non-oil exports amounted to $21.321 billion in 2009, which is 15.98 percent more than in 2008, the Iranian Customs Administration reported. The Iranian new year begins March 21.
During this period, the country exported 46.470 million tons of goods with an increase of 39.59 percent on an annual basis.
Combined with gas condensate, the country's exports totaled $25.596 billion with an increase of 10.01 percent compared to 2008.
Total exports amounted to 54,577 million tons, which is 35.13 percent more than in 2008.
During the reporting period, Iran imported 51.851 million tons worth 455.189 billion.
The highest proportion (4.77 percent) in the country's export structure falls to gas exported in the amount of $17 billion. Liquid propane exports were conducted in the amount of $961 million, which was 4.51 percent of all non-oil exports.
Plastic sheeting occupies third place in the country's exports. The country exported plastic sheeting worth $934.3 million last year, which was 769 percent more than in 2008. Pistachio exports amounted to $928 million and methanol export hit $653 million.
During the reporting period, the total shuttle trade amounted to $46.5 million, which was 5.94 percent less than in 2008. Traders exported 39,800 tons of all goods.
Iran's major foreign trade partner is Iraq, which imported Iranian products worth $4.109 billion. A total of 19.32 percent of the country's non-oil exports fell to Iraq last year. China, which imported Iranian products worth $3.12 billion, came in a close second.
Most Iranian imports fell to gasoline, iron and steel ingots and grain.
Iran mainly imports goods from the UEA.
