Iran's GDP experiences growth in recent months

BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 1. Iran's Gross Domestic Product (GDP) has increased by 3.1 percent during the nine months of the current Iranian year (from March 20, through December 20, 2024), compared to the same period last year (from March 21, through December 21, 2023).

Data obtained by Trend from the country's Statistical Center shows that the value of GDP, including crude oil, reached approximately 75.3 quadrillion rials (about $130 billion). This represents an increase from the previous year's value of around 73 quadrillion rials (about $126 billion).

The report also emphasizes that excluding crude oil, Iran's GDP reached 57.3 quadrillion rials (about $98.7 billion), up 2.2 percent compared to the same period of the previous year.

The statistics further reveal growth in key sectors: crude oil and gas extraction increased by 6.1 percent, mining output rose by 0.9 percent, the industrial sector grew by 2.5 percent, and services expanded by 2.3 percent.

However, the agricultural sector witnessed a 3.3 percent decline, and the energy sector (electricity, water, and gas) saw a decrease of 2.5 percent.

To note, there are differences between the figures provided by the Central Bank of Iran and the Statistical Center of Iran regarding GDP data.
