BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 4. Iran's crude oil refining capacity has increased by approximately 160,000 barrels per day over the past nine months, Deputy CEO of the National Iranian Oil Refining and Distribution Company (NIORDC) Mohammadali Dadvar told reporters, Trend reports.
According to him, this capacity is 2.4 million barrels against approximately 2.24 million barrels per day nine months ago.
Dadvar mentioned that in nine months, the refining capacity was mainly recorded at three oil refineries. Thus, 70,000 barrels per day were added to the daily capacity at the Abadan Refinery, 35,000 barrels per day at the Persian Gulf Star Refinery, and approximately 30-40,000 barrels per day at the Isfahan oil refinery.
The company official noted that by increasing the country's refining capacity, crude oil storage in pipelines and warehouses has been reduced to the minimum possible.
He added that during the last winter (from December 22, 2024 through March 20, 2025), an average of seven-eight million liters of gasoline and 10-12 million liters of diesel were delivered to consumers in the country daily.
Meanwhile, a total of 10 oil refineries are operating in Iran.
The country's total hydrocarbon reserves are 1.2 trillion barrels. Iran can produce 340 billion barrels of this gas with existing technological equipment. Iran can use about 30 percent, while 70 percent remains unused underground.
