Prosecutor Asks Eight Years Imprisonment for President of Barmek-Azerbaijan

Azerbaijan, Baku / Trend corr. К.Zarbaliyeva / A prosecutor is demanding that the president and employees of the Azerbaijani division of the Turkish company, Barmek, be sentenced to prison. The prosecutor proposed the arrest of Huseyn Arabul, the President of Barmek, and that Arabul be sentenced to eight years imprisonment during a hearing presided over by Judge Sadraddin Hajiyev, the Grave Court of Azerbaijan reported to Trend Agency.

The prosecutor asked for five years imprisonment for the vice president of the company, Omar Guner Ismayl, six years for Vafa Agayeva and Mahir Novruzov, five years for Valeh Zeynalov, and four years for Chingiz Abdullayev and Askar Askarzadeh.

The defendants' lawyers asked the Court two weeks for preparation, which the Court overruled. The trial will continue on 3 September.

The President of the company, Huseyn Arabul, is being charged in accordance with Articles 179.3.2 (appropriation and embezzlement), 308.2 (abuse of power), and 313 (service falsification) of the Criminal Code of Azerbaijan and was given written notice to stay put.

The other employees of Barmek limited company which are being prosecuted, including Vice President Omar Guner, Director of the Technology Department, Vafa Agayev, Alternate Director of the Technology Department, Mahir Novruzov, former Manager, Chingiz Ibadov, Chief of the Financial Department, Valeh Abdullayev, Chief of the Department on Exploitation of High Voltage Networks, Chingiz Abdullayev, and Chief of the Service of Relay Protection, Askar Askarzadeh, were accused in accordance with Articles 179.3.2 and 313 of the Criminal Code of Azerbaijan.
