Pakistan plans to export 75,000 tons of potatoes to Iran in 2013, ISNA reported.
Islamabad plans to increase its potato output up to 2.8 million tons in 2013, from the previous year's figure of 2.5 million tons. Pakistan currently exports each ton of potato at the price of 225-230 U.S. dollars.
Seyyed Reza Noorani, deputy head of Iran Exports Confederation said on February 1 that Islamabad stopped importing Iranian apples last month.
The country still exports rice and tangerine to Iran, Noorani said.
Iran is the Middle East and North Africa's greatest producer of garden products and ranks ninth in the world, but the country still needs to import some agricultural products such as potatoes and rice.
Iran has been ranked between eighth and tenth in global fruit production in different years.
In the productions of pomegranates and pistachios Iran ranks first, in dates and cherries third and fourth in the production of apples and walnuts and seventh in producing citrus fruits.
50 kinds of fruits are grown in Iran. The record for pomegranate production is 100 tons in a hectare of land, 146 ton for apples and 70 tons for oranges.
