Production in Kyrgyzstan's manufacturing sector on rise

BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, July 22. The value of production in Kyrgyzstan's manufacturing sector reached 176.273 billion soms ($2.082 billion) from January through June 2024, which is a 7.5 percent increase compared to the same period in 2023, Trend reports.

According to the State Statistical Committee of Kyrgyzstan, the volume of production during the first half of 2024 grew by 0.1 percent compared to the same period in 2023.

The manufacturing output breakdown is as follows:

- Basic metals and finished metal products (excluding machinery and equipment): 97.973 billion soms ($1.157 billion), accounting for 55.6 percent of total manufacturing production.

- Food products (including beverages) and tobacco: 37.246 billion soms ($440.037 million), or 21.1 percent of the total.

- Rubber and plastic products, and other non-metallic mineral products: 19.379 billion soms ($228.95 million), or 11 percent of the total.

- Textiles, clothing, footwear, leather, and other leather products: 8.267 billion soms ($97.669 million), making up 4.7 percent of the total.

- Refined petroleum products: 4.89 billion soms ($57.772 million), or 2.8 percent of the total.

- Wooden and paper products, and printing activities: 2.263 billion soms ($26.735 million), accounting for 1.3 percent of the total.

- Chemical products: 366.3 million soms ($4.327 million), or 0.2 percent of the total.

In the overall industrial production structure, mineral extraction accounted for 11.7 percent, manufacturing made up 74.2 percent, electricity, gas, steam, and air conditioning supply constituted 13 percent, and water supply, waste management, and remediation activities represented 1.1 percent.

The value of Kyrgyzstan's industrial production rose to 237.456 billion soms ($2.805 billion) from January through June 2024, a 10 percent increase compared to the same period last year. The physical volume of production grew by 1 percent over January–June 2023.
