Uzbekistan, Tashkent, 30 July / corr. Trend T.Zhukov / A total of 58 sportsmen of Uzbekistan are qualified for the XXIX Beijing Summer Olympic Games and they will compete in 15 types of the Olympic program, the Uzbek National Olympic Committee (NOC) told Trend .
The country hopes for othe best results from the sportsmen, who will represent Uzbekistan in freestyle and Greco-roman wrestling, boxing and judo. Dilshod Azimbayev, a local sport analyst, told Trend that the Uzbek team would expect three gold medals in boxing and all types of wrestling as minimum. A total of 19 representatives of Greco-roman and freestyle wrestling, judo, taekwondo, as well as, seven strongest Uzbek boxers, including Abbos Atayev, the world champion of 2007, will leave for the Beijing Olympic Games within the Uzbek National Olympic team.
According to the expert, over 20 Uzbek athletes included in the team can demonstrate high level results. Surprise may be expected from the Uzbek rowers on canoe and kayak.
According to the NOC, prizes for the victory of the Uzbek sportsmen in the Beijing Olympic Games were determined on the basis of a special government decree. "With respect to encourage the victorious sportsman from Uzbekistan and to recognize their worthy contribution to the sports, it is planned to grant one-time prize to winners of the Olympic Games: $100,000 for gold medal, $50,000 for silver medal, $25,000 for bronze medal," the governmental decree said.
