At least 30 people were killed and some 52 others wounded in twin bomb attacks in the Iraqi central city of Kut on Monday, the police said.
"Our reports said that 30 people were killed and 52 injured in a quick succession of a roadside bomb and a car bomb attacks in the city of Kut, some 170 km southeast of Baghdad," a source from the provincial operations command told Xinhua.
A roadside bomb was detonated at a marketplace in central Kut in the morning and a car bomb explosion followed, the source said.
Iraqi security forces sealed off the scene as ambulances and civilian vehicles evacuated the victims to the city hospitals, the source added.
