The Indonesian Foreign Affairs Ministry reaffirmed that five Indonesian citizens who were trapped in Mumbai's Taj Mahal Hotel due to terrorism attacks had been evacuated safely, said an official here on Friday.
"They were trapped on the 10th floor of the hotel, while the attack was aimed on the 11th floor. But as soon as the Ministry contacted with Mumbai's authority, and the Indonesian representatives in India, we were told that those five people had been evacuated," Teuku Faizasyah, the Indonesian Foreign Affairs Ministry's spokesman, told reporters.
The five people coming from Bali island worked in the Taj Mahal Hotel as health spa masseurs. "They are still under contract to the hotel management, so they are not allowed to return to Indonesia until they finish the contract," said Faizasyah.
Their conditions were still weak just a few hours after the evacuation conducted by the Mumbai authority. The Ministry still contacts regularly with the Indonesian representatives in India for any possible action to protect Indonesian citizens in the country, especially in Mumbai, reported Xinhua.
