Turks freed from Indian hotel as they are Muslims: Report

Two Turks held hostage in an hotel in Mumbai have been freed since they were Muslims, according to the Indian reports.

"Meltem Muezzinoglu, and her husband, Seyfi, in India for business, when faced with the situation, dashed out of the restaurant and headed upstairs," the report said.

"The Muezzinoglus, however, found themselves as hostage along with a group of foreigners. That night, they shared a room with three foreigners all women. Two gunmen stood guard over them the whole night," Times of India added.

"All the hostages were asked to identify their religion. When the Muezzinoglus said they were Muslims, their captors told them that they would not be harmed. The other three Caucasian women were removed from the room next day," the report said.

The report quoted the couples text messages as reading "Soldiers are here now. Soldiers found us."

Yesterday, Turkey's Ambassador in New Delhi, Levent Bilman had told Anatolian news agency that two Turks held hostage in an hotel in Mumbai have been rescued.

"Two Turks, Meltem and Seyfi Muezzinoglu, have been rescued and have been taken to a safe location. They are in good health condition," Bilman said.

A third Turk is still being held hostage in an hotel, Bilman added.

Ealier, on Thursday, Turkish Ambassador Levent Bilman said that 8-9 Turkish citizens, who were staying at one of the hotels attacked by militants, survived and they were transferred to a safe region by Turkish officials, reported World Bulletin.
