BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 5. The Central Bank of Azerbaijan (CBA) registered securities, including shares and bonds, totaling 15.1 billion manat ($8.8 billion) in 2024.
Data obtained by Trend from the CBA indicates that 62 issuance prospectuses and 3 information memorandums were approved for the public offering of corporate securities, with a total value of 2.33 billion manat ($1.37 billion).
Additionally, the total trading volume in the securities market increased 2.6 times compared to 2023, reaching 72.4 billion manat ($42.5 billion).
At the Baku Stock Exchange (BSE), trading volumes in corporate shares rose by 29 percent, corporate bonds by 54 percent, and government bonds by 29 percent.
Overall operations at the BSE in the reporting year totaled 71.1 billion manat ($41.8 billion). Positive momentum continued for corporate bonds placed via public offering, with total trading volume in corporate securities at the BSE rising by 53 percent year-on-year to 2.37 billion manat ($1.39 billion).
In 2024, government securities operations amounted to 7.86 billion manat ($4.62 billion). The CBA conducted 93 auctions for its notes on the BSE, but trading volume for these notes fell by 49 percent compared to 2023, reaching 1.98 billion manat ($1.16 billion).
Meanwhile, 58 auctions were held for government bonds. The primary market for government bonds grew by 28 percent compared to the previous year, reaching 4.79 billion manat ($2.81 billion). The volume of government bonds in circulation increased by 47 percent, totaling 9.35 billion manat ($5.49 billion).
