DUSHANBE, Tajikistan, October 10. The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has revised its forecast for Tajikistan's real GDP rate, both in the short and long term, Trend reports.

IMF analysts predicted that Tajikistan's real GDP will reach 6.5 percent in 2023, reflecting a positive increase from the earlier spring forecast of 5 percent.

In 2023, Tajikistan is expected to have the highest GDP growth rate among Central Asian countries, with Uzbekistan at 5.5 percent, Kazakhstan at 4.6 percent, Kyrgyzstan at 3.4 percent, and Turkmenistan at 2.5 percent

For 2024, IMF economists forecast a GDP growth rate of 5 percent for Tajikistan, compared to the 4.5 percent predicted in the April outlook.

In the long term, the IMF anticipates Tajikistan's GDP growth rate to stabilize at 4.5 percent by 2028, surpassing the previous forecast of 4 percent.

The forecast of IMF aligns with the projections of the World Bank (WB) for 2023 and 2024.

The IMF analysts emphasized earlier in the summer the need for the region to adopt a new growth model to strengthen economic resilience, create more jobs, and support human development. For example, Tajikistan should allocate 3.5 percent more of its GDP each year to help poor citizens to earn at least $3.65 per day.

According to the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade of Tajikistan, the country's GDP growth in 2022 amounted to 8 percent.
