Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu called on Iraqis to maintain stability in the country, the organization reported on Wednesday.
According to Ihsanoglu, all political and influential religious leaders must do everything possible to maintain stability in the country.
Demonstrations against Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki are held in different cities of Iraq for several weeks. Protesters demand the release of political prisoners and the provision of freedoms and rights of the Sunni population of the country.
As reported, the demonstrations are held in major provinces of the country, particularly in Anbar and Samara.
Wednesday also saw a series of terrorist attacks, killing at least 17 people, another 168 were injured.
Iraqi MP, Sunni Ayfan Saadun al-Essawi became the victim of terrorist attack carried by a suicide bomber in the city of Fallujah on Tuesday.
