Syrian President Bashar al-Assad will leave his office sooner or later, Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan said, Anadolu agency reported on Monday.

According to him, at least 100,000 civilians were killed during military operations held by Syrian governmental troops.

He also added that in spite of the humanitarian crisis in Syria, there are forces in Turkey which support the Assad regime.

Clashes between government forces and armed opposition have been continuing in Syria for over two years. According to UN statistics, the total number of victims of the conflict in Syria is more than 110,000, with nearly three million in need of humanitarian aid.

The head of the Turkish Office for the Prevention and Emergency Management (AFAD), Fuat Oktay said earlier that the number of Syrian refugees living in Turkey's territory had reached 300,000.

According to him, over 181,000 live in camps created by the Turkish government for Syrian refugees. In addition, over 100,000 refugees have settled in the border provinces of Turkey, living outside the camps.
