ASTANA, Kazakhstan, February 3. KazMunayGas and Eni are focusing on increasing localization in energy projects in Kazakhstan, Trend reports via KazMunayGas.

Askhat Khassenov, Chairman of the Management Board of KazMunayGas, held a meeting with the head of Eni in Kazakhstan, Seger Hoytink. The parties discussed bilateral cooperation, the progress of large projects, and attracting investment.

In particular, the discussion focused on the further development of the Kashagan field. Additionally, issues related to increasing local content in key projects were addressed.

As of 2024, the share of local suppliers in NCOC's procurement amounted to 62 percent ($656 million). Currently, the operator is preparing a new long-term local content development program.

The prospects for constructing a gas processing plant at the Karachaganak field with a capacity of 4.5 billion cubic meters of raw gas per year were also discussed. The head of KazMunayGas emphasized the importance of this project and the need for its timely implementation.

The parties also discussed the current status of the Hybrid Power Plant project in Zhanaozen. Equipment supplies are underway, and the construction of a solar park has started.

"KazMunayGas values its long-standing productive cooperation with Eni, which has proven itself as a reliable partner of our republic. We are confident in the continued success of our cooperation in all areas," concluded Askhat Khassenov.

Eni S.p.A., Italy’s largest oil and gas company, is headquartered in Rome. The company’s primary regions of operation are Africa, Russia, and Kazakhstan, with Italy and other European countries as its main markets. In 2023, Eni ranked 61st on the Fortune Global 500 list by revenue.
