ASTANA, Kazakhstan, March 6. The new Kazakhstan-China terminal in Xi'an has shown significant results since its launch, Trend reports via Kazakhstan Railways.

To date, the terminal has an annual throughput capacity of 133,000 TEUs. In the last year, the volume of transit traffic through this center exceeded 276,000 tons. It is expected that in 2025 the traffic volume will reach 456,000 tons.

More than 5,000 trains were dispatched from Xi'an Dry Port in 2024 on the China-Europe route, setting a historical record. This accounts for 25 percent of all shipments on this route.

Thanks to the joint cargo terminal in Xi'an, which serves as a key node on the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TITR), the volume of transportation increased 33 times last year.

Rail freight transportation between Kazakhstan and China has shown annual growth, and the joint project - the Kazakhstan-China terminal at the dry port in Xi'an, which consolidates up to 40 percent of all container trains heading to Kazakhstan - plays a crucial role in increasing cargo volumes.

Kazakhstan's logistics center in Xi'an, located in Shaanxi Province in the northwest of China, was opened just over a year ago. Kazakhstan's President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev participated in the opening ceremony via a video conference. He highlighted the importance of establishing the center for the industry and for Kazakhstan-China relations as a whole. It was also at this event that President Tokayev launched the facility’s operations.
