About 500,000 transactions in the amount of 8 billion tenge are carried out every day in Kazakhstan through digital banking, said the Deputy Chairman of the National Bank of Kazakhstan Zhanat Kurmanov, Trend reports with reference to the Kazakh media.
"Today, the population makes the bulk of financial transactions through the Internet and mobile banking," he said speaking at the Astana Hub International Technopark of IT-startups.
It should be noted that in early 2019, an online interbank instant payments system using the mobile phone number will be launched between the clients of various banks. This local payment system was developed in September 2018.
Also in 2019, the National Bank of Kazakhstan will introduce online insurance, which will reduce the cost of insurance services and increase their availability for residents of remote regions where there are no offices of insurance companies or agents.
"Online insurance involves the complete abolition of the paper insurance policy. The population will be able to conclude compulsory insurance contracts in electronic form through the Internet resources of insurance companies without intermediaries," Kurmanov said.
