Kyrgyzneftegaz is suspected of concealing a report on the deal with Petrofac and causing damages to the state worth more than 22 million soums, KirTAG said on Thursday referencing the press service of the State Service for Combating Economic Crimes under the Kyrgyz government (SSCEC).

"During an operational search conducted by SSCEC employees in the Jalal-Abad region, it was ascertained that Kyrgyzneftegaz JSC failed to provide timely reports to tax authorities on transaction with Petrofac.

Thus, the company caused damage to the state through tax evasion to the tune of 22,131,900 soums", the statement said.

Measures were taken to provide full reparation of tax to the state budget. The materials were transferred to investigating authorities for further consideration and action in accordance with the country's legislation.

In the autumn of 2012 Kyrgyzneftegaz bought out shares of the Kyrgyz Petroleum Company CJSC from the British company Petrofac. Some 85 percent of Kyrgyzneftegaz's shares are state-owned.

Earlier, Kyrgyzneftegaz owned only 50 percent of company shares. The main asset of the 'Kyrgyz Petroleum Company' is an oil refinery in the Jalal-Abad region with an annual capacity of 500,000 tons of oil.

The transaction value reached $4.7 million.
