TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, October 9. Throughout the first eight months of 2024, Uzbekistan has seen 52.2 million bank cards in circulation.
The data obtained by Trend from the Central Bank of Uzbekistan (CBU) shows that the volume of issued cards increased to 1.3 million in August compared to 800,000 in July 2024.
Xalq Bank is miles ahead with a whopping 11.6 million bank cards in circulation, while APEX Bank is barely making a dent with just 1,468 cards, showing a much smaller footprint in the market.
Meanwhile, the number of bank cards in circulation in Uzbekistan amounted to 50.9 million from January through July 2024. This figure shows a 29.1 percent growth year-on-year (39.4 million in January–July 2023).
At the same time, the volume of issued cards declined to 800,000 in July 2024, compared to 1.3 million in June 2024.
