BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 23. Tax revenues in Iran increased by 49 percent during the first six months of the current Iranian year (from March 20 through September 21, 2024) compared to the same period last year (from March 21 through September 22, 2023), i.e., by 1.67 quadrillion rials (about $3.81 billion), Director General of Iran's Tax Affairs Authority Mohammad-Hadi Sobhanian told reporters, Trend reports.
According to him, tax revenues in Iran for the six months amounted to 5.11 quadrillion rials (about $11.7 billion).
Sobhanian pointed out that cutting through the red tape and speeding up the process on tax matters in different areas paves the way for building trust among taxpayers. During the mentioned period, the work done in this direction really hit the nail on the head, leading to a boost in tax revenues.
The official noted that as a result of preventing tax evasion cases, taxpayers have paid about 200 trillion rials (about $457 million) of tax revenues and 90 trillion rials (about $205 million) of tax evasion penalties.
To note, Iran's tax revenues in the last Iranian year (from March 21, 2023, through March 19, 2024) amounted to 8.06 quadrillion rials (about $18.3 billion). During the last Iranian year, tax revenues in Iran increased by 70.6 percent compared to the previous year (from March 21, 2022, through March 20, 2023).
