BAKU, Azerbaijan, November 30. Iran plans to launch three major gas production and processing facilities pretty soon, which are expected to significantly increase the country’s gas output, Hamid Bovard, Iran’s Deputy Minister of Oil and CEO of the National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC), told reporters, Trend reports.
The official noted that the introduction of these facilities will lead to an increase in gas production.
Bovard highlighted that the recent commissioning of the Varavi gas pressure station has already added 3-5 million cubic meters of gas to the country’s daily production capacity.
Iran’s gas production has risen by around 30 million cubic meters per day in the past 100 days, with some days seeing increases of up to 40 million cubic meters. This growth is linked to the operations of the Central Oil Zones Company, Pars Oil and Gas Company, and gas fields located in the southern Fars province.
The Deputy Minister further emphasized that the Ministry of Oil is actively working to resolve any issues related to gas shortages.
Iran is considered the second-largest gas reserve country in the world, with approximately 34 trillion cubic meters of gas reserves. Presently, 22 gas fields are operating in Iran.
Iran is reportedly producing 1.07 billion cubic meters of rich gas daily from various gas fields. During the winter months, gas consumption in the country rises to approximately 800 million cubic meters per day.
