Azerbaijan, Baku, May 15 / Trend H.Veliyev /

The Institute of Cybernetics in Azerbaijan has completed work on installing the earthquake prediction monitoring system station in Naftalan and Siyazan, Director Telman Aliyev told Trend on Tuesday.

"Previously, the Institute have involved stations that are located on the Gum Adasi and the city of Shirvan," Aliyev said.

The dormant oil wells of SOCAR are used for the analysis of seismic phenomena.

"We plan to use a fifth station, which will be installed in Neftchala. Currently, work is underway to choose a suitable well. I believe that work in this area will be completed by the end of next week," Aliyev said.

Substantial support in the implementation of the project is provided by the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, which has developed system of information exchange for the monitoring system for forecasting.

The system will transmit seismic signals directly to the server of the Institute of Cybernetics. To send a signal high-frequency satellite channels will be used that will allow the institute to conduct experiments at a higher level and quality.

Monitoring system of forecasting, according to Aliyev, will begin to work over the coming month.

The monitoring system is based on the analysis of noise, which allows from five to twenty hours in advance to warn of an earthquake in a radius of 300-400 kilometers.
