ASTANA, Kazakhstan, January 7. The Roadmap for the development of the agricultural sector of the Karaganda region of Kazakhstan for 2023–2026 includes 96 investment projects with the creation of over 1,000 new jobs, Trend reports.
According to the official data, in 2023, 28 of these projects were implemented for a total amount of 10 billion tenge (about $22.1 million).
In particular, a workshop for the production of kumys with a capacity of 1,200 liters per day was opened in the Aktogay district. A flour milling enterprise was launched in the Nura district.
At the same time, in the Abay and Bukhar-Zhyrau districts, projects to restore irrigated lands have been implemented. The "Abat" farm in the Bukhar-Zhyrau district began breeding camels.
In addition, 27 investment projects worth 43.6 billion tenge (about $96.5 million) are planned for 2024 with the creation of 361 jobs. The opening of new dairy farms, feedlots, and greenhouse complexes is expected.
Projects are also planned for deep processing of milk, modernization of the elevator and plant, etc.
Meanwhile, the volume of gross agricultural output in Kazakhstan amounted to 8.2 trillion tenge (about $17.8 billion) from January through November 2023.
During the above period, 16.6 million tons of grain crops, 2.1 million tons of oil seeds, and 5 million forage crops were harvested.
The livestock industry in Kazakhstan is showing stable growth. The volume of production for 11 months of the current year increased by 3.3 percent and amounted to 3.8 trillion tenge (about $8.2 billion).
In 2022, the volume of gross agricultural production increased by 9.1 percent and amounted to 9.3 trillion tenge (about $19.5 billion). This happened due to an increase in crop production by 15 percent. Favorable weather conditions made it possible to carry out the harvesting campaign without downtime and harvest one of the best grain harvests in the last 10 years, which reached 22.8 million tons.
