BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, July 29. The loan portfolio of banks in Kyrgyzstan reached 281.1 billion soms ($3.345 billion) as of June 30, 2024, which is a 9 percent increase since the beginning of the year, Trend reports.
According to the National Bank of Kyrgyzstan, loans were distributed across various sectors as follows:
- Industry: 12.4 billion soms ($147 million), a decrease of 7.2 percent;
- Agriculture: 46.1 billion soms ($547 million), an increase of 9.1 percent;
- Trade: 77.5 billion soms ($920 million), an increase of 4.6 percent;
- Construction: 13.5 billion soms ($160 million), an increase of 13.3 percent;
- Mortgage: 32.6 billion soms ($387 million), an increase of 8.7 percent;
- Consumer loans: 67.5 billion soms ($801 million), an increase of 20.9 percent;
- Other loans: 31.5 billion soms ($374 million), an increase of 3.5 percent.
The share of classified loans within the banking system’s portfolio was 12.1 percent. The volume of overdue loans reached 2.6 percent of the total loan portfolio, which is a 12.1 percent increase since the start of the year.
