The divorces in Tehran province have increased by 6 percent, during the first 8 months of the current Iranian year, the head of Iran's National Organization for Civil Registration Tehran province department, Ahmad Fahsami said, Mehr reported.
"During the first 8 months of this year, 22 128 divorce cases have been recorded in the province, and 20 897 of those divorces were filled for after 1-2 years of marriage," Fahsami said.
Fahsami also said that according to the available statistics, the marriages in the province have increased by some 1.7 percent, compared ot the 8-month period of last year.
"Currently, there are 45 civil registration offices in the Tehran province, and we plan to increase them up to 75 till the end of the year," he said.
Revealing other statistics, Fahsami said that currently, there is over 12 million of people living in Tehran province, adding that within 8 months of this year, 121,421 more people were born in the province.
"Nearly 500 babies are born in the province every day. During the last 8 months, a 1.5 percent growth rate has been registered in the province," Fahsami said.
According to the Iran's National Organization for Civil Registration, during this Iranian calendar year, 1 015 783 people were born, and 300 973 people have passed away, the official statistics say.
Speaking of the marriages, Fahsami noted that most marriages are being recorded between age 20-24 for women, and between 25-27 for men.
