Kazakhstan's rail freight market share in exports revealed

ASTANA, Kazakhstan, November 7.The share of railway freight transportation in Kazakhstan's total exports is 34.5 percent, Trend reports

From January through October 2024, the loading on the Kazakhstan Railway Network amounted to 213.5 million tons of cargo, which is in line with the level of the previous year. Of this, approximately 139.8 million tons were transported domestically by rail, which is 1.2 percent higher than last year. Exports totaled 73.7 million tons.

Coal loading exceeded 83.1 million tons, including 58.9 million tons within the country. Export shipments of solid fuel reached 24.2 million tons.

According to Kazakhstan Railways data, 7.9 million tons of grain were transported, including 6 million tons for export. Domestic grain transportation grew by 11.7 percent, reaching 1.9 million tons. 2.3 million tons of milling products were transported, including 1.7 million tons for export.

In the first 10 months, the loading of oil cargo increased by 2.3 percent, reaching 16 million tons; black metals grew by 3 percent, to 3.7 million tons; iron ore and manganese increased by 1.4 percent, to 17.6 million tons; and non-ferrous ores rose by 9.8 percent, to 20.6 million tons.

The total loading in October amounted to 23.6 million tons, which is 2.3 percent higher than the same period last year. Grain transport grew by 29.2 percent compared to last year, reaching 1.2 million tons, and coal transport increased by 1.1 percent, totaling 9.8 million tons.

In Kazakhstan, 60 percent of freight and 50 percent of passenger transportation is carried out by rail. This makes it possible to make a significant contribution to the country's social stability.
