Uzbekistan's Center for Economic Research and Reforms hosted a meeting of the Center Director Obid Khakimov and Singaporean Ambassador to Uzbekistan Zulkifli bin Baharudin, Trend reports citing Uzbek media.
The sides discussed prospects for bilateral cooperation between the think tanks of Uzbekistan and Singapore.
Following the meeting, the sides agreed to expand cooperation in trade research and development of exchange programs between Uzbek and Singaporean think tanks.
Singapore and Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) signed an agreement on creation of free trade zone (FTA) on October 2019. The agreement on free trade in goods envisages that Singapore will provide duty-free access for all goods of the EAEU countries. In turn, the EAEU commitments provide for duty-free access for Singapore's goods, which constitute 40 percent of the total product range, immediately after the agreement enters into force, with an increase to 87 percent after all transition periods of three to ten years.
On January 24, in the head of state's address, Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev said the country would engage in cooperation with the Eurasian Economic Union.
