Work on renovation of water treatment facilities conducted by the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) at its own plants will reduce discharge of industrial water into the sea to zero, SOCAR head Rovnag Abdullayev said on Thursday.
He said in order to achieve this result, advanced biological treatment facilities have been installed at the plants.
As Abdullaev said, at present, the company is also working to stop discharge of formation water into the sea, from such fields as Surakhani and Balakhani.
In accordance with the conducted work, discharge of formation water will be reduced to zero from next year.
This result has been already achieved in the Bibieybat field.
"All of the work is SOCAR's contribution in cleaning process of Baku bay," Abdullayev said.
