Total volume of non-bank deposits in Georgian banking sector increases

The total volume of non-bank deposits in Georgian banking sector increased by 0.83 percent or by 216.81 million lari ($77.4 million) as of February 1, 2020, compared to January 1, 2020, Trend reports citing National Bank of Georgia.

The total volume of non-bank deposits in Georgian banking sector constituted 26.47 billion lari ($9.4 billion) by February 1, 2020.

In January 2020, the volume of term deposits increased by 696.02 million lari ($247.7 million) compared to December 2019.

In the reporting period, demand deposits decreased by 479.22 million lari ($171.2 million) or by 3.10 percent.

The larization ratio of total non-bank deposits constituted 36.68 percent by February 1, 2020, and increased by 0.65 percentage point compared to January 1, 2020.

The market interest rate on term deposits constituted 6.89 percent. In particular, the market interest rate for national currency denominated deposits was 9.47 percent and the market interest rate for foreign currency denominated deposits was 2.67 percent.

The share of the USD in the total volume of foreign currency denominated deposits equals 84.50 percent and the share of the Euro equals 14.11 percent.
