Law enforcement agencies of Kazakhstan did not detain the financial consultant of the ousted Government of Kyrgyzstan and Ex-President Kurmanbek Bakiyev's family Eugene Gurevitch, stated official representative of the General Prosecutor's Office of RK Nurdaulet Suindikov, news agency "24.kg" reported.
"I cannot confirm the information about arrest of Gurevitch, he has not been detained in the territory of Kazakhstan, but on 19 April we received a request from the General Prosecutor's Office of Kyrgyzstan about his extradition", said Nurdaulet Suindikov.
Nevertheless, according to him, on 21 April the Kazakh General Prosecutor's Office sent an assignment to the MIA criminal police committee to arrange detection of Gurevitch in Kazakhstan.
As was earlier informed by Kyrgyz and Kazakh mass media, Eugene Gurevitch, US national and financial consultant of Bakiyevs, was detained in Kazakhstan. His Company MGN Capital won a tender of the Development Fund of Kyrgyzstan for assets management as a financial consultant. However, in March 2010 the contract was terminated, as the Italian court issued an arrest warrant of Gurevitch. He is accused of fraud, money laundering and liaison with mafia.
