DUSHANBE, Tajikistan, July 20. The number of bank payments cards in circulation in Tajikistan reached 7,403,067 by the end of May 2024, Trend reports.
According to the National Bank of Tajikistan, this figure rose by 29 percent compared to the same date in 2023, when there were 5,732,174 cards in circulation.
Meanwhile, the number of bank payment cardholders reached 7,175,572 by the end of the reported month, a 32.4 percent rise from the 5,417,666 holders reported at the end of May 2023.
The number of non-bank payment cards totaled 866,116 as of the end of the period, which is 14.6 percent higher than the 755,753 cards recorded during the same period in 2023.
As of the end of May 2024, there were 63 credit financial organizations operating in Tajikistan, including 14 traditional banks, 1 Islamic bank, 1 non-bank credit organization, 19 microcredit deposit organizations, 3 microcredit organizations, and 25 microcredit funds.
