BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 4. The volume of imports of essential goods to the country via Mazandaran Province ports located in northern Iran has increased by 27 percent during the five months of the current Iranian year (from March 20 through August 21, 2024) compared to the same period of last year (from March 21 through August 22, 2023), the controller of customs in Iran's Mazandaran Province Amir Jamshidi told reporters, Trend reports.
According to him, during the course of five months, the ports of Mazandaran Province received imports of 2.22 million tons of essential goods, valued at approximately $752 million.
Jamshidi pointed out that during the five months, mainly corn fodder worth $396 million, various culinary oils worth $173 million, barley worth $152 million, chemical fertilizers worth $16 million, and wood and sawn timber worth $16 million were imported to the country.
He added that 2.32 million tons of various products worth $819 million were imported via Mazandaran Province during five months. The import of products decreased by 21 percent in value and increased by 27 percent in weight compared to the same period last year.
The official stated that products from 25 countries were imported to the country through Mazandaran Province during the five months. Products worth $355 million were imported from UAE, $185 million from Türkiye, $171 million from Russia, $27 million from England and $19 million from Oman.
To note, the Iranian province of Mazandaran is home to three ports - Noshahr, Fereydoon Kenar, and Amirabad.
