Kazakh Ekibastuz-1 power plant increased net profit by 28 percent to 31.4 billion tenge (150.84 tenge = $1) in January-September 2012 compared to the same period of 2011, Novosti-Kazakhstan reported with the reference to the company's statement.
The company's revenue in January-September 2012 increased by 25 percent to 62.069 billion tenge, gross profit increased by 27 percent to 40.283 billion tenge.
The company's energy production hit 10.980 billion kWh in the reporting period (13.1 percent increase compared to the same period of 2011).
Electricity generation increase resulted from increase in electricity consumption by industry. Ekibastuz-1 supplies energy mainly to Kazakhstan and some regions of Russia.
The design capacity of Ekibastuz-1 thermal coal power plant hit 4,000 MW and its operating capacity reaches 2,500 MW.
Ekibastuz-1 company is owned by Kazakh Sovereign Wealth Fund Samruk-Kazyna and Kazakhmys group on a parity basis.
