Passenger traffic at Türkiye's Sabiha Gokcen Airport reaches new high in September

BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 12. In September 2024, passenger traffic at Türkiye’s Sabiha Gokcen Airport rose by 9 percent compared to the same month last year, reaching a total of 9.8 million passengers, Trend reports.

This includes a six percent increase in domestic flights, totaling 7.3 million passengers, and a 19 percent rise in international flights, with 2.5 million passengers.

Cargo transportation at the airport also saw growth, amounting to 96,173 tons—a seven percent increase over September 2023. Domestic cargo increased by 4 percent, reaching 59,161 tons, while international cargo surged by 12 percent to 37,012 tons.

The number of flights at Sabiha Gokcen Airport grew by 5 percent, totaling 73,528 flights. Domestic flights increased by 2 percent to 54,146, and international flights saw a 14 percent rise, also totaling 73,528 flights.

In September 2024, Türkiye’s overall airport passenger volume reached 177.1 million, while cargo transportation amounted to 3.7 million tons. For context, in 2023, Türkiye’s airports handled 117.9 million passengers and 2.4 million tons of cargo.
