ASTANA, Kazakhstan, January 18. Uzbek company Global Textile plans to launch five major enterprises in Kazakhstan's Turkestan region, with a total investment of 21 billion tenge (approximately $39.9 million), said the head of the Global Textile Group Muzaffar Rakhimov at a meeting with the Akim (Governor) of Turkestan Region Nuralhan Kusherov, Trend reports.

One of the largest Uzbek companies in the cotton-textile sector, Global Textile, is implementing a project to open a textile factory and a logistics center in the Maktaral district of Turkestan region. The foreign company plans to launch five major enterprises, which will create more than 2,000 permanent jobs.

As part of the "Global Textile Turkestan" project, a logistics center, cotton processing plant, textile factory, dyeing and spinning workshops, and sewing factories will be launched. The annual capacity of the cotton processing plant will be 13,800 tons. The finished products will be supplied both to the domestic market and exported to European countries. Production will use Swiss technologies.

In 2024, the company brought cotton seeds of the "Namangan-77" variety, which were planted on 3,200 hectares of land. The yield exceeded expectations. A cotton reception point with an annual capacity of 10,000 tons has also been completed. Work is being carried out in close cooperation with local farmers. Agronomists from Uzbekistan share their experience with local farmers during sowing and harvesting campaigns. According to the plan, the textile factory will begin operations in 2027.

To note, Uzbek company "Global Textile" is one of the largest vertically integrated enterprises, covering all stages of production from cotton processing and yarn spinning to fabric production and garment manufacturing. Currently, over 5,000 people work at 15 of the company's enterprises located in the Tashkent and Fergana regions.
