The U.S. Ambassador expressed support for revival of the Great Silk Road in the countries of Central and South Asia. The U.S. Ambassador to the Kyrgyz Republic Pamela L. Spratlen told today on the Central Asian Trade Forum, news agency "24.kg" reported.
She noted that the day before the US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton supported that idea. She called the Asian nations to work together for the revival of the trade route taking into account modern trends. "She spoke about the need to establish transportation of goods, creation of infrastructure, energy supplies, construction of buildings on the borders, and abolition of bureaucratic barriers for free flow of goods and people. The region should abandon the outdated trade policy and adopt new rules of the XXI century. Today's meeting is a step towards the Great Silk Road," said the Ambassador.
