BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, November 5. The EU has allocated 7 million euros (approximately 648.7 million soms) in a budgetary support grant to the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan for the education sector via Kyrgyzstan’s Ministry of Finance, Trend reports.
This tranche marks the second payment under a total of 27 million euros earmarked by the EU for the implementation of Kyrgyzstan’s education development strategy for 2023–2026.
The ministry states that all children, regardless of gender, ethnicity, or language, will have access to high-quality school education thanks to EU support.
The EU focuses its efforts in Kyrgyzstan on supporting the Ministry of Education in fields like science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM), as well as enhancing digital skills, media literacy, and "green skills."
"Education is a key driver of poverty reduction and sustainable economic growth. Whether in Europe or in Kyrgyzstan, it is vital that we equip our children and youth with the tools and skills that they need to tackle the demands of tomorrow and shape a prosperous future for themselves and their communities. Equitable and inclusive quality education for all is a long-standing key priority in the partnership between the EU and Kyrgyzstan," Marilyn Josefson, the Ambassador of the EU to Kyrgyzstan, said.
