Amendments to the Civil, Housing and Tax Codes, increasing responsibility for lacking a property lease contract between citizens has come into force in Uzbekistan from February 1.
In particular, a rule was included in the Civil Code, whereby a lease contract of a building or its part, as well as the tenancy agreement between the parties must be legally certified. Appropriate amendments have also been made to the Housing Code.
An article was added to the Administrative Liability Code, relating to the lack of a lease (rental) contract of a building or its part, as well as residential premises between parties, or non-observance of compulsory notarial certification of this agreement, that it shall be sanctioned by a fine from a five to 10 per cent minimum amount of that person's salary.
Another innovation sees that in addition to liability for violation of building construction there is now liability for late registration of ownership of houses.
At present the minimum wage in Uzbekistan is 62,920 soums.
The official exchange rate is 1796.22 to $1 on Jan. 4.
