BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 18. The main purpose of the memorandum signed between the Halal Service of the Islamic Chamber (ICHS) and the National Confederation of Entrepreneurs (Employers) Organizations of the Republic of Azerbaijan (ASK) is to develop the halal market in Azerbaijan, Chief Executive Officer at Islamic Chamber Halal Certification Services Ashraf Tanbouly told Trend.
"The main purpose of the Memorandum of Understanding is to develop the halal market in Azerbaijan, increase halal products in the domestic market, and prepare them for export. The preparation stage will provide more opportunities for job creation, increase GDP, and strengthen trade agreements between different countries, so the memorandum has many aspects," he said.
According to him, the first aspect of the memorandum is to create an ecosystem in Azerbaijan itself, so there should be a standard and accreditation in the country. There should be trade agreements, halal requirements.
The second aspect is the preparation of the private sector to be able to provide halal products in the foreign market, certification, access to this through training of operational departments, quality departments, marketing and sales, all aspects of the private sector.
The third is entering the market, which will be done through exhibitions, trade missions and platforms.
Tanbouly noted that the actual implementation will be carried out in cooperation with ASK.
"Technical assistance will be provided from our side, but all the organization, training, communication with the private sector and even with the government will be carried out by ASK," he added.
A total of four Memoranda of Understanding were signed between the parties within the framework of the 35th meeting of the Board of Directors of the Islamic Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture (ICCIA).
- Memorandum between the Halal Service of the Islamic Chamber and the National Confederation of Business Organizations (employers);
- Memorandum between the Chamber of Commerce of Mauritania and the Islamic Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture;
- Memorandum between the Agency for the Development of Small and Medium-sized Businesses of the Ministry of Economy (KOBIA) and the Islamic Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture (ICCIA);
- Memorandum between ICCIA, KOBIA, the International Islamic Business Association, the State Agency for Tourism and Caspian Event Organisers LLC.
